A large nocturnal cricket that builds silk-lined leaf nests. It has powerful jaws and long cerci. During the day it hides in rolled leaves bound with silk it produces from its mouth.

Unlike spiders, it produces silk from glands in its mouth rather than from spinnerets, using it to build leaf shelters.
