A flattened mantis that clings tightly to tree bark and runs rapidly across trunk surfaces. Its mottled brown coloring perfectly matches bark. Unlike most mantises, it is a fast active runner.

When spotted it runs around to the far side of the tree trunk at remarkable speed, like a squirrel, rather than flying away.
