About
A slender orange-brown ant that lives inside swollen thorns of bull-horn acacia trees in a classic mutualism. Workers aggressively attack any animal that touches the tree and prune competing vegetation. The tree provides hollow thorns for nesting and food bodies for nutrition.
Did You Know?
These ants are so protective that they will attack and kill any vine or branch that contacts their host tree, keeping it free from competition.
